Objective: Build the apps and systems that run Delfina Care, our intelligent pregnancy care platform.

About Us: Delfina provides a leading pregnancy care data platform to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

About You: As a backend engineer with Delfina, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of critical features in the Delfina platform. From web backends, databases, data systems, monitoring and reporting. We encourage engineers to bring full-stack skills and interests to the table, so if you also enjoy writing React and/or Flutter frontend code, that is a big plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the design and development team to translate product requirements into working code
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to industry best practices and coding standards
  • Collaborate with the frontend development team to integrate front end components with backend APIs
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in software development to propose and implement innovative solutions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX/UI designers, backend developers, and QC engineers
  • Take initiative to improve our systems by thinking about software architecture, security, documentation, or whatever else we’re working on -- Delfina is a startup, and we’re looking for engineers who are excited for new challenges

Qualifications: 

  • Strong proficiency in software development and design
  • Strong proficiency in Python and FastAPI or similar programming language and frameworks
  • Experience with databases (Postgres or equivalent)
  • Solid understanding of relational databases and container-based software deployment
  • Familiarity with version control systems (git and GitHub)
  • Proficiency writing automated test suites and testable code
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience as a software engineer in a similar role
  • Experience in frontend development (React, Flutter)
  • Experience with Google Cloud or another major cloud provider
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
  • Prior experience in the healthtech industry or working on healthcare-related projects.
  • Passion for addressing challenges in maternal health and contributing to solving the maternal health crisis

Compensation: $130,000 - $155,000 per year (junior), $155,000 - $185,000 (mid-level)

The base salary range for this full-time position in the United States represents a wide variety of factors, including location, skills, experience, education, and training. New hires who meet most of the qualifications above should expect to earn near the middle of the posted salary range.
