Objective: Leverage multiple data sources and data science tools to build patient-centered technologies that improve pregnancy care

About Us: Delfina provides a leading pregnancy care data platform to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

About You: As a Delfina Data Science Intern, you will work closely with engineering, product, and clinical teams to build technologies that measurably improve pregnancy outcomes and support care providers. We are looking for someone who is excited to work with multiple data sources, implement cutting-edge data science tools, and collaborate across engineering, product, and clinical teams.

Responsibilities: 

  • Perform statistical analyses using multiple data sources
  • Maintain high standards for data accuracy and reliability
  • Collaborate across engineering, product, and clinical teams

Potential projects include: 

  • Developing statistical methods for incorporating longitudinal data into predictive models
  • Analyzing drivers of patient and provider engagement with Delfina Care to inform clinical product decisions
  • Characterizing trends in longitudinal patient health data and association with perinatal outcomes

Examples of past internship projects include:

Qualifications: 

  • Current undergraduate, masters, or doctoral student in statistics, data science, computer science, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field
  • As well as the following requirements:
    • Available to work full-time for a 12-week internship in New York City (flexible start date between May 15 and June 15, 2025)
    • Proficiency in R, Python, or SQL
    • Experience conducting statistical analyses using health data 
    • Familiarity with versioning and code collaboration with Git
    • Demonstrated interest in developing data science tools to improve pregnancy and postpartum care

Compensation: $10,000-$20,000 total for 12-week internship, paid bi-weekly

The compensation range for this full-time internship in the United States represents a wide variety of factors, including location, skills, experience, education, and training. New interns who meet most of the qualifications above should expect to earn near the middle of the posted compensation range. 

Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision benefits are provided as options for all full-time employees at Delfina. Additional company benefits may be included for interns on the basis of state and federal law and as available through company policy.
