Objective: Build the data systems that run Delfina Care, our intelligent pregnancy care platform.

About Us: Delfina provides a leading pregnancy care data platform to improve maternal and child health outcomes.

About You: As a Data Engineer on the Delfina engineering team, you'll play a crucial role in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers Delfina. You'll be a key player in shaping the future of our data platform, ensuring its scalability, performance, and security as we grow. You will be a crucial part of our engineering team, and you will collaborate directly with the Delfina Data Science team.

Responsibilities:

  • Build scalable data pipelines to support model validation, inference, and training on data collected from our various applications, remote patient monitoring devices, as well as Electronic Health Records (EHRs).
  • Collaborate with both Data Science and Software Engineering, communicating effectively with both teams
  • Contribute scalable data monitoring infrastructure to automatically assess data quality
  • Enables data pipelines to scale efficiently
  • Create visualizations and dashboards for internal monitoring and improvement of models
  • Take initiative to improve our systems by thinking about software architecture, security, documentation, or whatever else we’re working on -- Delfina is a startup, and we’re looking for engineers who are excited for new challenges

Qualifications: 

  • Strong proficiency in Python or a similar programming language
  • Proficiency writing automated test suites and testable code
  • Familiarity with version control systems (git and GitHub)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for healthcare and a desire to make a positive impact on patient health
  • Ability to take ownership of problems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional experience as a Data Engineer or similar role
  • Experience in the healthcare or life sciences industry.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA and other healthcare data privacy regulations.
  • Knowledge of FHIR standard
  • Experience working at the interface between software engineering and data science
  • Experience with Beam, Spark, dagster, dbt, postgres, or BigQuery
  • Deep familiarity with Python

Compensation: $130,000 - $155,000 per year (junior), $155,000 - $185,000 (mid-level)

The base salary range for this full-time position in the United States represents a wide variety of factors, including location, skills, experience, education, and training. New hires who meet most of the qualifications above should expect to earn near the middle of the posted salary range.
